Abuse reports and authorization
NetChecks' TCP Port Scan, Traceroute, and All-in-One Scan tools send real network traffic to whatever host, IP address, or domain a visitor enters - the same as running nmap or traceroute from a terminal. Every visitor agrees, via the Terms of use, that they will only run these checks against systems they own or are explicitly authorized to test. The operator of this instance does not select or control what a given visitor scans.
If traffic from this instance reached one of your systems and you believe it was unauthorized:
- Email admin@netchecks.org with the approximate timestamp, the source IP address you observed, and the target you received traffic on.
- Include "abuse" or "scan report" in the subject line so it's triaged quickly.
- To request that this instance's outbound scanning IP address(es) be blocked from reaching your network going forward, say so explicitly in your message and include the IP range(s) to exclude - the operator will apply this at the instance level where technically possible.
